One of those days
SENIOR Assyriska FF had the confidence, the glamour and the winning concept while Jönköping Södra hasn’t won since May and had their best scorer, Ricardo Santos suspended. Everything was set for three points. Instead, it went the other way. Jönköping Södra won by 0-1.
A few changes on the starting line up from previously had to be made due to the injury of Martin Lorentzon and the illness of Nahir Besara. Göran Marklund was also not fit to play 90 minutes which made Roberth Johansson use Fredrik Samuelsson as the right back and the new signing Kristoffer Näfver as the left winger. Petter Furusteth was the write winger and Eddie Moussa played as an attacker with Tiago Pereira.
Assyriska came in with confidence and tried to attack from both sides. Kristoffer Näfver introduced himself by almost scoring from 20 metres after two minutes. They kept on using Näfver when they attacked and if it wasn’t for some miscommunication it could have resulted to an early goal. After 45 minutes, one of the defenders from Jönköping tried to pass the ball but Eddie pinched it and scored beautifully but the linesman signalled for offside which everyone reacted at, even the Jönköping players. This was very frustrating but the Assyriska players kept their moral on top and continued to get the goal.
On the second half, Assyriska used an extra gear to get the leading goal but Jönköping defended very well. On the 48th minute, Assyriska got a corner and after the corner kick it got very ruff among the players which resulted a penalty kick. No one wanted to take the penalty and Näfver ended up becoming the penalty taker. He shot it well to the right but the keeper Mikael Axelsson saved it well.
This gave the away team the energy they needed and they started to create chances and attacking combinations. On the 60th minute Jönköping got a free kick from 25 metres and Tommy Thelin felt that it was his lucky day. I must say, it truly was. He got a fantastic hit where the ball went straight to the right top corner. Jon Rytterbro couldn’t do much and Jönköping took the lead.
Assyriska made two changes immediately after the goal. Göran Marklund came in for Tiago Pereira and Narsai Shaba for Kristoffer Näfver. Assyriska couldn’t create much and the last half hour it was mostly struggle and frustration from our side. Nothing seamed to work day and it was one of those days that the ball didn’t go our way. Let us hope that this was a one off because we know that we can do much better.
The next game will be in Vilundavallen against Väsby United on Thursday 16 July 7.15 pm CET. If you cannot watch it there, you have the possibility to do it via C Sport.
