Junior News: Tipselit suffer defeat after "20" minute collapse
During the half time break the mood in the dressing room was that we could push on a snatch all three points, in a game that was fairly evenly balanced. However, that was not to be the case, and when the ref awarded a very questionable penalty unfairly against Anton, we rapidly conceded three more goals in a twenty minute period, littered with defensive errors that allowed our opponents' to thrive.
Head coach Tommy Krantz reflected after the match: "This was a typical 0-0 match, but we must now wonder how we are going to raise our lowest level. The final result ended up being 4-0 to the home team after a disastrous 18 minute period for us in the second half, where we played at our worst so far this campaign.
Despite that poor showing that started on the hour, the game was evenly poised with Assyriska playing the better more expansive football and Gefle sitting and defending deep, then hitting us on the counter, which they executed effectively. The hosts seemed to gel together as a unit and play well to their strengths. Assyriskas´ team this season is by and large newly assembled and we are already finding early on in the campaign that we must be consistent and learn from our mistakes.
Krantz added:" That the difference between our lowest to our highest level during the same match can be so significant isn´t ok. We need to rectify this together by being smarter and physically harder for an entire match!"
Norrköping will be a stern test this Friday as we hit the road again, determined to bounce back and restablish winning ways after two good wins against Västerås and Åtvidaberg, in the previous two fixtures.
